『Introduction to Korean Language and Literature』는 한국어와 한국문학에 관심 있는 독자들이 한국 문화의 역사와 특성을 폭넓게 이해할 수 있도록 기획된 입문서이다. 서울대학교 국어국문학과 연구진이 제작한 온라인 강의 가운데 주요 주제를 엄선하여 한 권으로 재구성했다.

『Introduction to Korean Language and Literature』 is designed to help readers interested in Korean language and literature gain a broad understanding of Korea’s history and culture. It brings together selected topics from a series of online lectures developed by scholars in the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Seoul National University.

한국어학 부문에서는 음성, 음운, 문법, 의미를 비롯해 한국어의 역사, 방언, 문자 체계, 한국어 교육과 어문 규범 등을 다룬다. 한국문학 부문에서는 고전문학과 현대문학의 주요 장르와 연구 흐름을 살펴보고, 비교신화학, 여성문학, 영화, K-문학 등 최근 주목받는 주제도 함께 소개한다.

The linguistics section covers speech sounds, phonology, grammar, meaning, language history, dialects, writing systems, Korean language education, and language norms. The literature section explores the major genres and scholarly developments of classical and modern Korean literature, along with emerging topics such as comparative mythology, women’s literature, film, and K-literature.

한국어와 한국문학을 처음 접하는 독자부터 한국학을 더욱 깊이 공부하려는 학습자와 연구자까지 활용할 수 있는 체계적인 안내서이다.
